This very old grape was discovered by Luigi Fantini in 1961 in the municipality of Pianoro.
For a long time it was completely submerged by brambles to be finally recovered by Stefano Galli who, with great passion, has taken care of the vine partially covered by a pile of landmill.
Luckily we were able to save the plant with the help of our agronomist Federico Curtaz, the "Group of Local Action" 5 Valleys and Dr. Fontana and Dr. Filippetti of the Bologna University.
In several years this group has studied the morphological and genetic features of the vine and its grape. In 2009 it obtained official status with the registration in the Italian Register of Vines in 2009 as “Uva del Fantini” (Fantini’s Grape).
Today we produce two wines made from this ancient grape: Vecchio Riosto, a table red and For You, a sparkling rosè.
